Emptying a date field using javascript

Apologies if already posted here, I did a google search first and the first 2 pages did not return much.

I want to blank out a date field, in a client side script event of a button push, using setField.

How??

setting to "" doesn't work.

The docs only show how to set to a specific date.

Any ideas?
