Timely Support

It seems like Support is far less responsive under OpenText than it was under Metastorm.  We opened a ticket one week ago today, and never heard back.  We called to follow up twice - the first time we got the promise of a callback which never happened, and the second time were sent to voicemail.

Is anyone else finding OpenText support to be a challenge?  We're curious, as we are on 7 and considering the migration to 9. Given the cost in time and effort, it makes sense to look around at other options, like K2, before committing - and so far the support experience is not discouraging us from doing just that.

I'd be interested in hearing whether anyone has had particularly good or bad luck with Support recently.

Can we install below features of Metastorm 9.2 version on Windows 7 64 bit ?

Hello,

Can we install Metastorm 9.2 on W7(64bit) OS?

Is all following modules are compatible with W7 ?

1)Metastorm Process Engine(Metadata Service & Diagnosti Service)
2)Metastorm Deployment Service.
3)Metastorm Web Extensions.
4)Metastorm Designed.
5)Metastorm Administrative Tool

I want all component on my local machine(W7 64bit).
Database is installed on diffrent server which I can able to configure and connect.


I am try to install same but facing error like some DLL's are missing :(.

My question is, for all above features of Metastorm Is W7 64 bit compatible OS or not?
Please reply.

Installing 9.1.3.6 over 9.1.3.3 on Windows Server 2008 x64

Well, this one was a 'son of a bachelor' to get going. We had a lot of problems, some probably caused by faffing about so much to try everything, but this works every time:

1. Run the installation (always as admin). If nothing happens after a while, try again. If you get no error saying another installation is running, move on to step 2.
2. Run the Supersede 9.1.3.3.reg file.
3. Try the installation again. It may work, but with us, it always gives an error (I forget what, but meaningless). Just close it.
4. Edit the reg file, run regedit, navigate to the two entries added by the reg file and delete them.
5. Run the installation again. It works.

So, in short, if it fails (with no error, just disappears), you can run the reg file, stop the install when it errors, delete the entries inserted by the reg file, and then it will work. I guess the reg entries allow the installer to do something that actually makes it work after the error, but obviously I have no idea what.

We spent a month on-and-off trying to get this working, and this works every time. BTW, it probably will work without this from 9.1.3.0 to 9.1.3.6, but I've had enough trying!

Close form based on condition?

Is it possible to have a user click on an action, it loads the form, does all the background stuff, then closes the form automatically, and jumps to the chained action?


I'm working on a project that was created by a vendor but it's not what we wanted.  The form i'm looking to skip doesn't require any user interaction at all but it loads a ton of information into sql that's required for the next few steps so i can't skip over the form, but i'd like to have it just pass by the user interaction part of things.

I hope this makes sense, if not let me know and i'll try to explain better.

system stages remove messages?

Has anyone else noticed that when a form passes through a system stage "Auto-forward to" that it removes any messages that were previously set by an action?

I'm running v9.2.1.0(live) and v9.2.1.1(test)

ewait is not executing

Hi,

I have an system action where there is timed action to progress further whereas due to connection time out, System is not able to execute the timed action.

When I try to insert manually to execute the action in ewait table, It is not executing the timed actions whereas other actions which are scheduled after my given time have progressed.

Could you please suggest.

9.2 patched and now got a big problem

Hi,

I just flamed my dev environment. I was running 9.2.

So I installed :

9.2.0.1
9.2.1.1
9.2.1.2

And that has trashed my dev environment. When I go to localhost/metastorm I can see the menu bar, the links for do list, watch list, blank forms etc but rather than be greeted by the login screen below I just get this message

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Also the deployment service won't start now. I get this message in the event log :

Exception message: Unable to start the Deployment Service because the target database schema is not compatible. The schema version is '9.2.0.0', but the expected schema version is '9.2.1.0'.


A smoking gun at least.


But I checked the patches and none of them contain a seperate script file for running against the database. So if applying the patches doesn't roll the database forward, what does?

Any help appreciated.

Mstm.SendEmail() Is not working

Mstm.SendEmail( )  is not working for me.. L I am using V9.2

I have updated all related settings from registry and also added correct mailSettings in Web.config(<system.net> … </system.net>) file as well.

But steel Metastorm application not able to send Email.

2 errors are logging each time:

1) Details:Failure sending mail. Unable to connect to the remote server No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:25

2) Stack Trace: at System.Activities.WorkflowApplication.Invoke(Activity activity, IDictionary`2 inputs, WorkflowInstanceExtensionManager extensions, TimeSpan timeout) at System.Activities.WorkflowInvoker.Invoke(Activity workflow, IDictionary`2 inputs, TimeSpan timeout, WorkflowInstanceExtensionManager extensions) at Metastorm.Engine.WF.Hosting.MSWorkflowCaller.CallSyn…………………………………………

 

 

I am struggling from last few days.
Any way or settings to solve this situation.. Please help.

Can't Publish after Window 7 Upgrade.

Just upgraded pc to Windows 7 from XP. Installed 7.6 with SR4 and now when I publish some procedures I get the following error:

Error - ORA-12899: value too large for column "EWORK"."EFIELD"."ECAPTION" (actual: 271, maximum: 250)

It appears to be showing for some of the Grids. These grids show as 250 chars in the Database.

Using Oracle 11g x86 client.

Anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this.

Index on Solution Table in V9

Hi I am looking at the solution tables in V9 and think it will be really good if we can move away from having to create our tables in management studio.

However, when I am ticking the 'Index' checkbox, it appears to be ignoring this completely. I am checking this by going into Management Studio and generating the sql to create the table and there is no mention of the Index at all.

I was doing this to check if the index was clustered or not, hopefully it would be.

If someone could provide me the answers, that would be much appreciated :-)

Symbols not loaded

Anyone get the error "The breakpoint will not currently be hit, no symbols have been loaded for this document" when trying to place a breakpoint in code while using the Metastorm debugger?

It was working fine yesterday, and has been for weeks so am confused why this would suddenly stop working.

Is there a way to reduce the amount of time between dependent field refreshes?

We are just getting started with developing flows in version 9.2 and what I am noticing is that where I have drop down fields where the list options are dynamically generated from a business object or SQL query that is dependent on another field on the form, that the amount of time it takes to refresh the list is quite long. This makes for an awkward user experience since sometimes the refresh takes longer than it does for the user to move to the dropdown and so they select it and then see the list refresh.

Is there a configuration setting somewhere that can be changed to make the dependent fields refresh faster?

showing an alert/confirmation after submit

I need to show an alert message on client script, when the form submit button is clicked. However this alert should only show after all the page validations for required fields has been done (i'd hate to have to check for all required fields in client script manually)

This was possible in 7.6 using a "hidden" function eworkData.Valid():

if (eworkData.Valid()) 
 alert("all submitted");

This function however doesnt work in 9.1. I'm sure there's an equivalent hidden javascript function - I just dont know what it is :(

Any help is appreciated.

PS - I saw a similar thread from 2012, but that doesnt address my concern of only showing this alert AFTER all metastorm required field validation is done.

Just reinstalled my dev environment, from scratch after the 9.2.1.2 patches destroyed it (see my other post on debugging problems with setting a break point).

I cannot start the deployment service :

Specific error is

Service cannot be started. Metastorm.Common.Addin.AddInException: A start-up command failed with an unhandled exception.

Command Type: CheckDatabaseConnectivity

Exception Type: SqlException

Exception message: A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider: Shared Memory Provider, error: 0 - No process is on the other end of the pipe.) ---> System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. I would like to know if there is any entry point that we can attach our code to so that we setup our IoC container.



If not have any of you used IoC container in custom dll's called from map?

Library Form Segment

I have a library with local variables on a form segment in a form.

I reference the library in a project.

From the project, I set the library form (with the local variables on the form segment) to an action.  I want to set the form segment's local variables on the when action starts.

Is this possible?  How is it done?

Clearing an attachment clip

Ok this may sound weird but its something the users want.
I am using a single attachment clip so that users can upload a file and attach it to a single record (not folder) My problem is that after uploading they may want to attach another file to a second record without submitting the form. My attachment clip is linked to a local variable so I thought I could just clear the variable and it would re-enable the attachment clip (local.FileVar = ""). Unfortunately this did not work and the clip is disabled. Does anyone know how to clear an attachment clip without submitting the form?

SSO - Failed to set configuration

I tried to set up SSO in an environment where there were no SSO config before.
After setting up everything using SSO Guide, when I call application using the following url: http://xxx-iis/MetastormSSO/esso.asp?Service=e-Work%20Server
I get:

Single Sign-on Error
Error - -2147418113
Description - Failed to set configuration.
Source -

It must be something on the IIS side because this error appears even when the engine service is stopped.

Metastorm BPM 7.6SR3 (xxx-bpm)
IIS6 (xxx-iis)
on W2k3

*SSOHelper.dll is registred!

Validate Button Click and Text Box

I have a button that checks the database for existing data, I want to stop commit if this button is not clicked. I used a javascript routine to check, it is called on On Form Submission.

It does validate but GRAYs out the submit button once validated.

Also I want to be able to stop submit or commit this same form, if an item has been selected from a dropdown control, the next text box MUST be completed.

All my javascript efforts has not be able to achieve this two validations on the same form.

Please point me to an example or reference I could read up.
